General Examination Regulations

Final examinations count for 60% of the final course grade with a 20% average of the regular timed tests and 20% of the average of each end of semester examinations. These examinations are supervised by invigilators drawn from the academic staff, appointed by the hea of the examination panel.

Supplementary Examinations

  1. A student who fails any required subject during the first sitting, must sit for a supplementary examinations within two years from the first sitting before one qualifies for a diploma as stipulated in the course requirement. Extra fees are charged for such exams and any extra coaching requested by a student.
  2. A student who passes the supplentary examination shall be awarded a course grade of "C" for any numerical score he or she gets.

Examination Irregularities

  1. Inappropriate conduct by a student concerning examinations impairs academic integrity, and will subject the offending student to expulsion.  Such exam irregularities may include, but are not limited to:
    1. Cheating: Any candidate who will be proven to have cheated, including being involved in plagiarism, in any part of the examination shall be deemed to have failed in the whole examination for the semester.
    2. Communicating with other students, either verbally or through other means, during the examination without permission from the invigilator.
    3. Permitting another student to copy from or use one’s paper.
    4. Obtaining, or endeavoring to obtain, assistance from any other student directly or indirectly or endeavoring to give assistance to any other student.
    5. Continuing the exam after being ordered to stop.
    6. Failing to comply with any examination rules, regulations, or directions given by an invigilator.
    7. Destroying, or attempting to destroy, evidence relating to any suspected irregularity.
  2. No unauthorized materials (for example purses, electronic equipment such as cell-phones and pagers) shall be allowed into the examination premises.
  3. There shall be no borrowing of materials such as calculators, rulers, correcting fluid and pens among candidates during examinations.
  4. If an invigilator suspects a student of examination irregularities, the following steps must be taken:
    1. The student is approached immediately.
    2. All improper materials are confiscated and the student is not allowed to continue with the exam
    3. The student must submit a written statement to the Dean of Academic Affairs within 24 hours.
    4. The senior invigilator and the Examination Secretary report the irregularity to the Dean of Academic Affairs.
    5. The report and the student’s statement are considered by the Investigating Committee of the College’s Examination Panel and then recommendations are sent to the Academic staff meeting.

The College shall preserve student examination papers (final), for purposes of reference, for a period of two years after the release of the examination results.
